About the unit

Health Metrics belongs to the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at the Institute of Medicine at the Sahlgrenska Academy. Health Metrics was originally created at under the name Centre for Applied Biostatistics (Akademistatistik) in 2011, as a research group at the Occupational and Environmental Medicine unit.

As of January 2015 the unit took its new name of Health Metrics in order to reflect the broader responsibilites of the unit to coordinate research and education in statistics, epidemiology and health economics at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg.

Head of unit from the start in 2011 running until the fall of 2015 has been professor Max Petzold. Thereafter professor Mikael Svensson has held the position as head of unit. As of February 2018 senior lecturer Catrin Wessman is the head of unit. Full list of personnel can be found here.
