Workshop 1: Economic Evaluation alongside Clinical Trials

The workshop deals with planning, performing and analysis of economic evaluations alongside clinical trials. The workshop will cover aspects such as analyzing cost and outcome data, calculating and reporting cost-effectiveness results, and how to deal with issues of uncertainty. To fully participate in lab sessions, participants need to bring their own laptop with Microsoft Excel installed.

Workshop 2: Causal Inference in Health Research using Non-Randomized Data

The workshop deals with how to estimate causal effects using non-experimental (observational) data. The workshop will begin by presenting Randomized Experiments as the gold-standard for drawing causal conclusions and to be used as a comparator to the non-experimental approaches presented in the course. The main focus will be on the methods of Difference-in-Difference (DD), Instrumental Variables (IV), and Regression Discontinuity (RD) designs. The workshop is recurrent from 2016. To fully participate in lab sessions, participants need to bring their own laptop with Stata installed.

How to register

To participate in the summer school please send an e-mail to Health Metrics noting which workshop you wish to attend. Include a brief CV stating your educational and professional background. Please also specify any request for special diet.

Workshop fees and discounts

  • Regular fee: 5000 SEK (~€500) per course.
  • Reduced fee: 3000 SEK (~€300) per course. The reduced fee applies to PhD and Master Students.

The two workshops are held concurrently, thus it is not possible to follow both courses.

What the fee covers

Lunches and coffee breaks during the course period are included as well as a welcome reception (Monday) and a course dinner (Tuesday).

Please note that the fee does not cover accomodation.

Application deadline

Application deadline is extended to May 15, 2017. Please note that we limit class size to 20 participants, so workshops may fill up before this date.
